Race Weekend Update
Activities for the weekend are underway, with all the last minutes details being attended too. On behalf of our sponsors and club we welcome all of you to our event.
A few athletes have done test swims in the lake and report a temperature of 18C which means that wetsuits will most likely be allowed. If we get a week of warm weather, the temperature of the lake may increase to above 22C which would limit the use of wetsuits. All attempts will be made to keep this site up to date with current temperature.
An athlete confirmation email will be sent in the evening of Monday June 20 to all participants. If you didn’t receive your email, please contact the race director at stmalotri@gmail.com.
A race map can be found here. Please note that additional maps are included in the athlete confirmation email.
For the athletes participating in the Teck National Junior Series ONLY:
A mandatory meeting is being held at race site at 2:00pm on Saturday June 25. This mandatory meeting will provide you with race details, as well as serve as a preliminary equipment check-in. Officials from Triathlon Canada will be onsite to provide guidance for the next day’s event. Athletes will receive their race kits at this time as well.
Following the race meeting, the race course will be open for athletes until 3:30pm. No support is provided during this time, but athletes will have full access to transition and swim buoys.
Looking forward to seeing you all next weekend,
Colin Blanchette

St-Malo MultiSport Weekend
June 26, 2011, the Tribalistic Triathlon Team is once again proud to host the St. Malo Multisport Weekend at the St. Malo Provincial Park, 45 minutes from the city limits of Winnipeg. This race series is now in its 16th year, and 2011 promises to be an exciting year as in conjunction with the age group races, the first race of the Teck National Junior Elite series will be included in the St. Malo event. The Teck series showcases Canada's top Junior Elite triathletes in a draft-legal race series and we are proud to welcome Canada's Junior racers to the St. Malo course.
The St. Malo race will continue offering the three most popular Multisport events to its age group racers including Sprint and Olympic distance triathlons and the short distance Duathlon for athletes who prefer not to swim. The short distance Duathon includes a 2.5 km run, a 20km bike, and a 5 km run. Due to the tremendous growth of the St. Malo race over the past three years, it is expected that two Sprint Triathlon waves will be offered to accommodate more racers in the popular shorter distance event.
Additional changes for 2011 include:
Both Sprint and Olympic Triathlon distance race results will be tabulated in 5 year age categories. Previously Sprint results were categorized in 10 year age categories.
With the two wave sprint start, athletes will be informed of their wave start on Tuesday June 20th.
Price structure for race entry will be staggered in the following manner: April 25 - May 29 -- $55; May 30 - June 19 -- $65
Purchase of lunch
St. Malo being a race early in the Triathlon Manitoba race series, makes it the perfect race for first time triathletes as well as showcasing seasoned veterans training accomplishments over the spring. The water is just warm enough for a comfortable swim and the air temperatures are generally warm, but cool enough as to not overheat on the run. The bike course is flat and fast. And this year, the Junior Elite race promises to bring some exciting competition to the popular St. Malo course and introduce the Manitoba triathlon community to Canada's future Olympic hopefuls in the sport of triathlon.
Please join the Tribalistic Triathlon Team at what promises to be the best St. Malo Multisport Weekend to date.
